Hi, I'm completely new to Ham Radio, and hope to join your club this coming week. I would be interested in discussing switch mode power supply's vs linear/analogue type supply's. I'm probably going to buy a mobile unit to use as a base station so I will be needing a good power supply. Also interested in Fusion vs Dstar, so I can determine which radio to buy.

HI, Sorry for the late reply. I have a switch mode Samlex SEC1235m, and am very pleased with it. So far, I haven't heard any problems with noise from it. It runs very cool, but has a slightly loud fan when it kicks in which is not very often. It's powering an Icon 7100 with D-star, but so far I haven't had much time to explore it. Seems a bit complicated to me, but I'm still very much a noob. LOL!
